Acne treatments – Finding the right acne cure for you?

Finding the right acne cure or acne treatment can be something of an uphill battle. There are simply 100’s of acne treatments that are released each year. Sifting through this continuous wave of acne remedies and finding the cure that befits your own symptoms and has the required effects on your spots can be likened to looking for a needle in a haystack…………..which is damn near impossible.

There are certain rules to follow in respect of finding the right cure for your pimples or spots and the first step you need to take is to understand what type of acne that you may be suffering from. To make this process easier acne can be broken down into different types according to the individual’s particular symptoms.

Keeping this point in mind there are at present two common types of treatment for acne. First there is a topical treatment which means this type of treatment is applied to the skin and then there are oral treatments which you take by mouth.

Following we break down some of the forms of acne and what may be used to treat them.

  •   Minimal Acne: This variety of acne is commonly treated using cleansers and ‘over the counter’ treatments that can be bought at your local chemist.
  •   Mild Acne:  OTC treatments, Acne cleansers, Topical Antibiotics and Topical benzoyl peroxide.
  • Moderate Acne: Topical antibiotics, Topical benzoyl peroxide, Oral antibiotics, Hormone pills, Topical retinoids.
  •   Severe Acne: Oral retinoids ((Isotretinion or Accutane).

The first type of acne treatment that we will be uncovering is types used to treat Minimal Acne. This type of acne is commonly associated with the teenage years and is known as spots, pimples or blackheads.
